Goodbye Summer

We have enjoyed a fall that was more beautiful than any I can remember in my many years in Wyoming. Perhaps it is just a different phase of life that is letting us slow down and enjoy the warmth and beauty of these pretty days. The photos below were taken the last weekend of September as we enjoyed the most georgeos day at the park with friends.

The swings are one of Annika's favorite things to do in the evenings and we've spent so much time the last couple weeks going to the park that she says "SFings!" (Annika's word for swings) and "Side" (slide) each night over and over when I pick her up from daycare. With the recent 35-40 degree temps this week, we just haven't quite made it over there lately. I will get tough and take her outside soon enough, but in the mean time I am hunkering down and finding lots of indoor activities to keep us busy in the evenings.

In between trips to the park there have been many roadtrips for me lately (did I say I was slowing down and enjoying the fall. . . .). The weekend of 10/4, Stephanie and I traveled to Saint Francis, Kansas to witness Leigh Ann Faulkender becoming Leign Ann Bandel in a great smalltown Kansas wedding that kept that town hopping until the wee hours of the night (sorry no photo to share). Also on 10/4, the beautiful Cox twins were born (Carter and Cooper). After a very trying pregnancy for their parents (to say the least) they arrived safely and are doing great. A picture is below, but to read more about their journey into the world here is the Cox's Blog: http://www.coxtwinsrock.blogspot.com/.

And my most recent roadtrip was to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho this past weekend for Stephanie (Garthright) and Jon Kalter's wedding. The setting for the wedding was on a boat with breathtaking views and less than 40 guests. It was a very special ceremony and the weekend was a lot of fun!

And one last photo, of Annika, waving good-bye to summer. Until next time. . .

Thanks for all the pics - this is such a neat way for us to learn about all of your activities. I think we are going to Casper next weekend (10/31/08) to meet the twins - I'm so excited. Isn't two a fun age for Anika - we spend lots of time at all the parks in Powell when Molly stays with us -
Thanks again.

I just took a minute to check your blog. Thanks for including us in your story! I too am sad for summer and fall to be over. We'll have to snuggle up with the kids for the winter and hope spring comes early :)
